District C has a new assistant property manager and she’s a known entity – long-time clerk Hellen Exposito.

Exposito was promoted to the position in late January. Well known to all, she has worked nearly eight years as a clerk in the district whose headquarters are at Riverview Apartments.

As such, she now helps to run the district at the help of Lisa Sanford, coordinating a staff of 11 and setting up and doing annual inspections of the 496 apartments in the district. Besides Riverview, District C includes Sullivan Apartments and Morgan Apartments.

Exposito said she loves the new job as much as she loved the old job. She moved a few feet away from the district’s public office to a private office with a view of Riverview facing south.

“We work together here for the good of the company, and for our residents,” she said.

“I love working here. I think of this as my second family. Lisa (Sanford) is a great property manager, she’s taught me so much,” Exposito added.

Exposito grew up in Caracas, Venezuela. She moved to Springfield 15 years ago to spend time with her father, who lives here.

Since that time she has earned an Associate of Science Degree in Business Administration at Springfield Technical Community College. She plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business at Springfield College, starting this fall.

SHA Deputy Executive Director Nicole Contois said Exposito is known in the district as hard-working, smart, friendly, and a team player.

“Hellen is the kind of person you know you want on your team – her work ethic is great, she has a positive attitude, and she works well with others, from her co-workers to our residents,” Contois said.

Exposito is a homeowner in Springfield and the mother of two young sons.
